Job Overview
The Construction Services Technician supports planning, coordination, and installation of electric and gas utilities. The role works with the Customer Project Coordinator (CPC) to prepare job packets and material lists for new construction, maintenance, and replacement of damaged facilities. Responsibilities include administrative tasks such as invoice processing, credit card reconciliation, and timekeeping. The technician serves as the primary point of contact for customers, contractors, and internal crews while maintaining accurate records and addressing construction‑related issues.
Working as part of a self‑directed, collaborative team, the role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
- Provide planning, coordination, and installation support for electric and gas utilities.
- Collaborate with the CPC to prepare job packets and material lists for new construction, maintenance, and replacement of damaged facilities.
- Execute administrative tasks such as invoice processing, credit card reconciliation, and timekeeping.
- Serve as primary point of contact for customers, contractors, and internal crews.
- Maintain accurate records and address construction‑related issues.
- Work as part of a self‑directed, collaborative team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
- High School, GED or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university in business administration, project management, construction services, or related field; or completion of a formal apprenticeship program in a field relevant to utility services or electrical work preferred.
- One (1) year of related office or construction experience.
- Effective and flexible communication skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn computer applications.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Problem‑solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures preferred.
- Experience in the construction field with basic knowledge of Avista’s natural gas and electric infrastructure preferred.
- Experience with utility customer information and asset management systems preferred.
- High School, GED, or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university in business administration, project management, construction services, or related field; or completion of a formal apprenticeship program in a field relevant to utility services or electrical work preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in natural gas, electric distribution, utility or related field.
- Experience in the construction field with basic knowledge of Avista’s natural gas and electric infrastructure preferred.
- Experience with utility customer information and asset management systems.
- Experience managing complex scheduling and compliance tasks.
- Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
- Effective and flexible communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Competent knowledge of the Construction Services Technician processes and ability to complete complex work assignments.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures preferred.
- Knowledge of permitting and municipal coordination processes preferred.

In‑Person RequirementThis position requires an in‑person presence to support team and on‑site responsibilities.
Salary RangeLevel I: $25.28 to $32.35 per hour
Level II: $28.77 to $36.98 per hour
