Purchasing Associate
As a Purchasing Associate, you will assist in the daily operations of the Purchasing Department. Your responsibilities include researching new vendors, tracking deliveries and updating order records (e.g. dates, vendors, and quantities). You will also be responsible for learning company purchasing policies and procedures, and assist in maintaining supply inventory levels required for effective company operation. You will work with the Purchasing department to help maintain standard operating procedures that ensure timely and accurate stock purchases for our branch locations.
PrimaryDuties:
- Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing needs
- Research potential vendors and cost offers
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery
- Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities)
- Conduct market research to identify pricing trends
- Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate better prices with help from manager
- Help maintain cost increases and decreases as supplied by vendor
- Prepare cost analyses
- Maintain updated records of vendor communications
- Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
- Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition
- Evaluate the impact of supply shortages and/or delays to customer orders and communicate with the affected salespeople to mitigate customer problems
- Bachelor's Degree in Distribution & Logistics or Business Management preferred
- 1 to 3 years of purchasing related experience in Supply Chain preferred
- Good understanding of supply chain procedures
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Knowledge of market research
- Proficient use of computer; use of database software a must
- The expected rate of pay for this position is $34.00 to $37.50 hourly
- Occasionally walking and standing is needed; often reaching with hands/arms is necessary; most of the time sitting, use of fingers/hands to feel, and talking or hearing needed; occasionally the ability to lift up to 20 pounds is needed
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and the ability to adjust focus
