Job Description Senior Management Consultant – Federal Acquisition Job Summary

Lafayette Group is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual to provide expertise and leadership in planning and managing strategic government acquisition initiatives, developing acquisition processes and templates, building and maintaining communications materials (e.g., executive leadership briefings), and managing project execution in support of a new acquisition program management office (APMO) within a large federal agency. The role includes ensuring cross-team communication, strategic alignment, appropriate staffing, and high-quality delivery.

The role leads review and quality assurance of deliverables, oversees project reporting, and coordinates responses to data calls. The selected individual will serve as trusted advisor to government acquisition leadership, managing project execution for various initiatives, supporting process improvement efforts, and leading the continued development and administration of the APMO. The ideal candidate is an experienced project manager and team lead with federal acquisition experience.

Job Responsibilities
  • Build strong client/stakeholder relationships and serve as a primary point of contact and advisor to senior government acquisition office leadership for the planning and execution of strategic initiatives and management of various acquisition support functions (e.g., acquisition planning, execution, monitoring, communications) across sub-teams.
  • Ensure strategic alignment, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across all acquisitions.
  • Provide mentorship, administrative oversight, and professional development support to junior and mid-level staff within assigned areas of responsibility and support in these areas across the broader company.
  • Lead team in creation and maintenance of written work products including leadership briefing decks, Federal acquisition templates and SOPs, meeting summaries, strategic plans, talking points, and fact sheets about the client organization.
  • Spearhead the development and presentation of unique and innovative solutions to complex challenges in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Develop and coordinate approval of government briefings to communicate complex topics to various internal and external audiences.
  • Enhance quality, reduce risk, and identify opportunities for improvement through consistent review and oversight of team materials and deliverables.
  • Oversee and/or perform research and data gathering to identify key themes, trends, and opportunities from complex information for the implementation of new processes and tools to support strategic business operations.
  • Identify and drive operational efficiencies and organizational effectiveness through process improvement.
  • Manage the development and facilitation of requirements documentation for key stakeholders and follow up with stakeholders on status updates.
  • Provide meeting planning, facilitation, and logistical support to include capturing, communicating, and tracking meeting outcomes and follow‑up actions.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience (e.g., management consulting, Federal Government acquisition, contract administration).
  • Demonstrated work experience in Federal acquisition, procurement and/or budget areas with a strong understanding of federal contracting (e.g., contracting strategy, contracting lifecycle, and contracting artifacts).
  • Demonstrated research, data gathering, analytical, critical thinking, and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team, managing performance, and developing staff.
  • Experience in strategic communications including developing clear and concise messaging for new initiatives.
