- Pass criminal background checks.
- Ability to complete and maintain training.
- Ability to commit to the program for at least 2 years.
Children must be under the protection of the judicial system to have a CASA appointed.
DescriptionCourt Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers and guardian ad litem provide advocacy in court and the community for the rights of children who are subject to child welfare and court intervention due to abandonment, abuse, or neglect. CASA's purpose is to secure a safe and permanent home for each child served as quickly as possible.
Washington Association of Child Advocate Programs
Provides support and services to the 35 Child Advocate programs, which include recruitment, screening, training, and supervising community volunteers who assist the court in protecting the best interests of abused, abandoned, and neglected children in Washington State.
