You will prepare and manage bids and act as the primary point of contact to communicate project cost, staffing, scheduling, and updates with contractors.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • 4+ years as a Project Manager, Estimator or equivalent
  • Customer-focused service to internal and external customers with problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects with many moving pieces while delivering quality results within the expected timeframe
  • Proficiency with PC programs and the Microsoft Office Suite; ability to quickly learn new programs and applications
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and current US work authorization or ability to obtain prior to start without company assistance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Projects, Bid2

    Win, or takeoff software
  • 4+ years in asphalt or heavy civil field
  • Experience with supervisory skills, production, safety and/or operations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field and/or experience in bidding, estimating, project coordination, or field management

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Provides estimating and submission of bids on all projects (public/private) as directed by the Construction Manager. Review of bid documents, collection of subcontractor prices, and prompt bid submission.
  • Coordinate bid evaluations with the Construction Manager; evaluate bids based on prior work type, production rates, labor productivity, and prior bid history.
  • On successful bids, prepare and submit all contract documents and ensure proper execution. Key areas include:
    • Subcontracts and sub-contractor coordination
    • Project schedules, material requests and approvals
    • Support team: assist to keep work progressing and resolve on-site challenges
    • Coordinate project-specific training, safety, and EEOC compliance
    • Coordination with Construction Managers, superintendents, and contract administrators
    • Preparation/approval of monthly pay estimates from owner and sub-contractors
    • Maintain positive relationships with private and public owners
    • Ensure accuracy of sub-contractor submittals and coordination of work
    • Coordinate with owners on timing and completion of work
    • Negotiate contract change orders and approved subcontractor/supplier invoices
    • Respond timely to owner and sub-contractor correspondence
