Position Description

What you'll do. As Construction Manager, you will report to the Director of Construction Services and provide leadership across Mercer Mass Timber's Construction Services portfolio. This role oversees the execution of all construction services projects, working closely with the Operations Manager and Project Managers, while directly managing Construction Superintendents and ensuring strong field execution, safety, and quality.

With oversight across all construction operations, the Construction Manager brings a strategic lens to growing and scaling the Construction Services team, strengthening processes, and aligning delivery with Mercer's broader operational objectives.

As we are growing the team and the services offered by our Mass Timber group, this role will be evolving throughout the process from the design intent to Onsite Installation Execution.

This position is based in Spokane Valley, WA and travel to sites during installation as needed.

Responsibilities

* Lead the strategic expansion of Mercer Mass Timber Construction Services by identifying new markets, securing regional licensure, and developing the go-to-market plans and estimating strategies required for scalable growth.

* Provide oversight for Construction Services operations, directly managing Superintendents and site-based teams while improving field processes, tools, training, and resourcing to drive onsite effectiveness.

* Build and leverage relationships across the construction ecosystem to support market entry and project pursuit; assist with pursuit strategies, bid reviews, and proposal development.

* Partner with the Director of Construction Services on departmental budgeting and forecasting while supporting Project Managers in monitoring project-level cost control, cash flow, and margin protection.

* Establish and continuously improve standardized procedures and best practices across the project lifecycle, including estimating, contracting, procurement, and execution.

* Champion a robust safety culture and a high-performing team environment focused on accountability, professional development, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

* At least 10 years experience in the Construction Field

* Demonstrated leadership/management experience required

* Mass timber experience preferred

* Proven experience in the installation and fabrication of mass timber projects in the US.

* Ability to lead and mentor junior members of the team and look holistically at the project execution.

* Effective written and verbal communication skills

* Resilience, ability, and desire to mentor, lead and grow the Construction and Installation team.

* Knowledge of Bluebeam, Excel, Basic Construction Scheduling Software

* OSHA 30 Certification

Salary and Benefits

* The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $130,000 and will be commensurate with your education and experience.
