Construction Manager
The Geotechnical Construction Manager will play a pivotal role in bridging engineering design with field execution for specialty geotechnical construction projects. This position supports work involving earth retention systems, deep foundations, ground improvement, geotechnical grouting, foundation support, ground stabilization, and subsurface remediation. The manager will be responsible for managing client relationships, preparing competitive bids, developing work plans, leading specialized field crews, coordinating logistics, and ensuring projects are completed safely and profitably in accordance with project plans and specifications.
Responsibilities- Manage and oversee specialty geotechnical construction projects from planning through execution.
- Estimate project costs, manage schedules, and coordinate manpower based on project specifications.
- Supervise and provide daily technical direction to field crews, drillers, operators, and technicians.
- Visit active project sites to provide guidance, resolve field issues, and ensure crews are aligned with project requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers and clients to ensure specialty geotechnical designs are constructed according to specifications.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Manage daily operational logs, equipment utilization, project budgets, and quality control checks.
- Identify and resolve site deficiencies in a timely manner to keep projects moving forward.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive construction management experience with a focus on geotechnical construction techniques such as deep foundations, ground improvement, and shoring.
- Direct field experience in geotechnical construction.
- Experience managing or supervising field crews, including drillers, operators, and exploration technicians.
- Ability to manage specialized geotechnical construction projects including foundation support, ground stabilization, and subsurface remediation.
- Experience with construction cost estimating, scheduling, manpower planning, and project coordination.
- Strong understanding of heavy drilling machinery, subsurface earth behavior, structural blueprints, and geotechnical reports.
- Ability to coordinate with engineers and clients to ensure designs such as micropiles, helical piles, soil nails, tiebacks, shoring elements, and grouting are built to specification.
- Ability to pass a standard medical physical and functional lift test for work in demanding outdoor construction environments.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Professional Engineer, PE, or Engineer in Training, EIT, license.
- Possession of OSHA 30-Hour, HAZWOPER, PMP, or other relevant industry safety certifications.
- Experience with engineering/design coordination on geotechnical or civil construction projects.
The work environment is primarily based in the office, with the necessity to visit job sites as required. The role requires engaging in demanding outdoor construction environments, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
