This position supports complex work involving earth retention systems, deep foundations, ground improvement, geotechnical grouting, foundation support, ground stabilization, and subsurface remediation. The role combines hands-on field leadership with strong technical expertise and client-facing responsibilities to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and in accordance with plans and specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee specialty geotechnical construction projects from initial planning through full execution, ensuring alignment with engineering design and project objectives.
  • Estimate project costs and develop competitive bids, including detailed budgets, schedules, and manpower plans based on project specifications and scope of work.
  • Lead, supervise, and provide daily technical direction to field crews, including drillers, equipment operators, exploration technicians, and other construction personnel.
  • Conduct regular site visits to active projects to provide guidance, resolve field issues, and verify that crews are following project requirements, drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate closely with engineers and clients to ensure specialty geotechnical designs are constructed according to specifications, including foundation systems and earth retention elements.
  • Enforce safety protocols consistently and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations across all project sites.

  • Support the implementation of geotechnical construction techniques such as deep foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grouting, and subsurface remediation in accordance with engineering guidance.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, clients, operators, drillers, and field technicians to align expectations, clarify technical requirements, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Coordinate logistics for specialized geotechnical equipment and materials, ensuring resources are available and properly deployed to meet project timelines.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability within field crews, reinforcing best practices and continuous improvement on every project.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive construction management experience, with a focus on geotechnical construction techniques such as deep foundations, ground improvement, shoring, or related specialty construction work.
  • Direct field experience in geotechnical construction, including hands-on involvement with site operations and execution of geotechnical methods.
  • Proven experience managing or supervising field crews, including drillers, equipment operators, exploration technicians, or similar construction personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage specialized geotechnical construction projects involving foundation support, ground stabilization, and subsurface remediation.
  • Experience with construction cost estimating, scheduling, manpower planning, and overall project coordination.
  • Strong understanding of heavy drilling machinery and its operation within geotechnical construction environments.
  • Solid knowledge of subsurface earth behavior and its implications for geotechnical design and construction practices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply structural blueprints and geotechnical reports to guide field execution.
  • Ability to coordinate with engineers and clients to ensure designs such as micropiles, helical piles, soil nails, tiebacks, shoring elements, and grouting systems are built to specification.
  • Ability to pass a standard medical physical and functional lift test suitable for work in demanding outdoor construction environments.
  • Willingness to regularly visit job sites and provide clear direction to field crews based on project needs and specifications.
