We’re currently looking for a motivated Project Engineer to join our team in Spokane, WA! This is a great opportunity for an individual looking to grow their career in commercial construction while working alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting commercial construction projects through estimating, project coordination, documentation, scheduling, and field support. This position is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about delivering quality projects safely and successfully.
Salary Range: $60,000–$80,000 annually, DOE

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Project Engineer
, you will provide critical support throughout all phases of commercial construction projects, helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to Baker’s high standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution.
  • Assisting with subcontractor buyouts, scope reviews, and procurement activities.
  • Preparing quantity takeoffs, bid packages, preliminary estimates, and cost evaluations.
  • Managing project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and closeout documents.
  • Coordinating with architects, engineers, owners, subcontractors, and field teams to resolve project issues.
  • Reviewing shop drawings, product submittals, and construction documents for compliance and constructability.
  • Assisting with project startup, including Procore setup, contract documentation, permits, and project logs.
  • Supporting quality control efforts through inspections, documentation, and coordination with project teams.
  • Assisting with jobsite safety documentation and supporting Baker’s safety culture.
  • Helping monitor project costs and identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and value.

What We’re Looking For

  • A motivated individual who embraces teamwork, builds trust, and is committed to collective success.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent commercial construction experience considered.
  • 3+ years of experience with a commercial general contractor preferred.
  • Understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, scheduling, estimating, and contract documents.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and plans.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
