Dental Assistant , II, or III

Sea Mar Community Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) founded in 1978, is a community-based organization committed to providing quality, comprehensive health, human, housing, educational and cultural services to diverse communities, specializing in service to Latinos in Washington State.

On‑call Dental Assistant position available for our Vancouver – Salmon Creek Dental Clinic. The Dental Assistant will assist the dental provider in the delivery of dental procedures allowed by the WA State Dental Practice Act. Responsibilities include assisting with restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, and any other procedures permitted by the WA Dental Practice Act. The role requires willingness to work Saturdays.

Additional duties involve maintaining proper records for material safety data sheets (MSDS), conducting spore tests, managing inventory of dental supplies, and assisting in training new Dental Assistants and organizing schedules. Candidates with prior orthodontic experience are preferred.

• Valid WA State license, basic life support (BLS) certification, organizational skills, dental record experience and familiarity with computer utilization.
• Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate, read and write in English and understand common written material about dentistry.
• Preferred bilingual in English/Spanish.

Must have completed a formal Dental Assistant program at a college, technical institute or equivalent. A minimum of 6 months of work experience is required. Employees without formal training must have a minimum of 18 months of experience in a Dental Assistant position.

Must be knowledgeable of proper sterilization methods and OSHA regulations, including QI. Should be able to duplicate and mount radiographs, place temporary restorations, take impressions, pour and trim models, place retraction cord, place matrix bands, perform coronal polish and give fluoride treatments. Requires 2 years of working experience; employees without formal training must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Dental Assistant position.
