The Position:
Gavilan College seeks qualified applicants for one full-time, tenure-track, 10-month faculty position teaching Biological Science beginning August 2026.The assigned teaching schedule will comprise a variety of biology lecture/lab courses and may include teaching days, evenings, and/or weekends in various modalities and campus locations. Faculty are expected to devote as much time as necessary to perform the professional responsibilities of the position.
Participation in professional activities, curriculum development, and campus committees is expected. The individual selected will share leadership roles with other full-time instructors in coordinating and developing curriculum, using culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and coordinating the overall Biology program.

Essential Duties
* Teach 14-16 lecture-equivalent hours per semester, which will include in-person instruction at the Hollister and Gilroy campuses as well as online teaching; may include evening and weekends. May also include teaching Dual Enrollment (high school) and/or Higher Aspirations (justice impacted) program courses, as needed.
* Create inclusive, student-centered learning environments that support the growth and success of diverse learners through thoughtful course preparation, effective teaching methodologies, and meaningful feedback.
* Cultivate relationships with students to support their growth through office hours and regular interaction (both in person and online).
* Create, assess, and update curriculum to meet the needs of diverse students in all modalities.
