Level 2 Para educator - SNAP Salary Schedule
Placement is dependent on experience
Pay is annualized over 12 months

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
The para educator role plays a pivotal role in providing evidence-based student support in the area(s) identified during the evaluation and annual review of a student's IEP. The position is highly specialized in that ongoing training is required within an MTSS model, student goals are revisited often, and monitoring of student growth is expected. Multiple adults are involved daily in some instances, which requires flexibility and communication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Computer experience, specifically working with the Google Suite.
* Trauma Informed Training is preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or equivalent; AND one of the following education requirements.
* Associate Arts or higher degree OR
* 72-quarter credits (48 semester credits) from an accredited college, OR
* Pass an academically rigorous assessment.
* Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
* Possess high moral and ethical standards.
* Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with staff, students, and families and contribute to a positive culture.
* Demonstrate mature behavior and sound judgment in working with parents, students, staff, and the community.
* Demonstrated interest in working with vulnerable students with a broad range of disabilities.
* Ability to follow directions, carry out routines, and implement interventions as directed by certificated staff or supervisors.
* Work independently and take initiative with minimal oversight.
* Ability to interact with and instruct students using school technology.
* Possess adequate health and physical strength necessary in assisting student mobility and relocation.
* Proficiency in basic communication skills and ability to see, hear, and listen to the teacher and students throughout the classroom or school settings in order to supervise and maintain a safe environment for a diverse group of students.
* Able to meet the physical demands of the position which may include and is not limited to, kneeling, bending, and working or sitting on the floor with students; running after students, based on student needs.
* Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
* Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from the hire date.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop positive, professional relationships with students which build trust and confidence.
* Provide secondary instructional support in the classroom under the supervision of the teacher.
* Work with all students, individually or in small/large groups, to reinforce learning of material or skill initially introduced by the teacher.
* Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
* Assist with the classroom set-up and prepare materials for specialized instructional activities.
* Observes and utilizes techniques and strategies used by special education teacher(s) and therapist(s).
* Assists in data collection as prescribed by the school-based team based upon IEP goals.
* Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
* Follow appropriate protocols when reporting student incidents/behavior to the immediate supervisor.
* Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
* Participate in professional development and training programs, as assigned.
* Collaborate with the classroom teacher regarding student assessments linked to learning standards.
* Assists students with physical needs such as toileting, feeding, mobility, and communication.
* Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
