Job Summary

The School of Business at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for a full-time Clinical Faculty of Tax (Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate) position to begin September 16, 2026
. This is a renewable, non‑tenure‑track position with responsibilities for teaching and service. The initial appointment for Clinical Assistant is a two‑year term; subsequent appointments shall be for two‑year terms. The initial appointment for Clinical Associate is a three‑year term; subsequent appointments shall be for one three‑year term.

EWU is a regional, comprehensive institution where excellent teaching is supplemented by an appropriate research program. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in‑person and online courses to a varied student body, advise students, participate in student‑learning assessment, and serve the university, college, department, and the profession.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop a Faculty Activity Plan by the end of the first quarter of appointment.
  • Teach both in‑person and online courses, with a typical load of up to 45 credits per academic year.
  • Develop curriculum and course materials; adopt textbooks and provide information to the EWU bookstore.
  • Advise students, planning and informing students of course content, readings, assignments, attendance regulations, and grading.
  • Schedule and attend office hours; turn in grades according to deadlines.
  • Participate in student assessment and maintain professional credentials.
  • Contribute to program, college, and university committees.
  • Participate in leadership of local, state, and regional professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development and classroom instruction.
  • Maintain AACSB qualification designation.
  • Engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.
Required Qualifications
  • Clinical Assistant:
    • Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or Business Administration from an AACSB‑accredited institution with 18 graduate credit hours in accounting or tax; or JD from an ABA‑accredited law school with appropriate academic preparation in taxation such as an LLM in taxation, and at least three years of recent clinical experience.
    • Teaching experience.
  • Clinical Associate:
    • Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or Business Administration from an AACSB‑accredited institution with 18 graduate credit hours in accounting or tax; or JD from an ABA‑accredited law school with appropriate academic preparation in taxation such as an LLM in taxation, and at least six years of relevant teaching and professional experience.
    • Evidence of supervisory experience and superior contributions to the teaching program.
    • Recognition for excellence in the professional field and innovation in instruction.
  • Ability to teach Taxation courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach supportive of student needs, including universal access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Previous collegiate‑level teaching strongly preferred.
  • Experience teaching courses in an online mode.
  • Evidence of teaching forensic accounting and/or accounting ethics.
  • Evidence of meeting Scholarly Academic designation under AACSB standards.
  • Evidence of curriculum development ability.
  • Evidence of engagement with and service to the profession and field.
