Job Purpose

The Summer Language Program Coordinator(s) will provide oversight and instructional support to the Summer Institute Language Program and Summer Institute Participants. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and transportation of Language Program students. Additionally, this position will act as a liaison between Summer Institute Staff and the Spokane Public Schools as well as provide information on Language Program participation to the University community and general public.

Essential

Functions
  • 100% - Camp Preparation and Development
    • Language Camp Coordination
      • Market and recruit students and parents for the Summer Language Program.
      • Register all Summer Language Program students and parents. Oversee and coordinate the curriculum planning for all levels.
      • Develop emergency communication plan for the Summer Language Program and distribute to necessary constituents - Summer Language Program teachers and Gonzaga School of Education.
      • Meet weekly with Summer Institute professors to coordinate Summer Language Program and Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA/TESOL) coursework.
      • Provide teacher resources to Summer Institute Participants, Summer Institute instructors, and all Summer Language Program teachers.
      • Coordinate and supervise daily snack distribution and cleanup.
      • Substitute teach in the Language Camp, on an as needed basis.
      • Oversee Summer Language Program teacher observation of Summer Institute Participants and help facilitate peer observations.
      • Check in with Summer Institute Participants, Summer Institute instructors, and all Summer Language Program teachers.
      • Work with appropriate offices on campus to arrange rooms and facilities for Summer Language Program classes and events.
      • Develop and oversee student services, safety, and transportation by establishing protocols and policies which are communicated to campus resources such as Campus Security and Public Safety, as well as the Summer Institute Instructors, and all Summer Language Program teachers.
      • Be on-call and respond to all Summer Language Program-related situations/emergencies.
      • Assist in the coordination of the culminating event, Taste of TESL, specifically related to the Summer Language Program performances.

Educational Requirement

Bachelor's Degree

Years of Related Experience Requirement

In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.

Salary Information

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $26.92/hour

Pay Range:
Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 23.54
Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 29.42
Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 35.31
