Division: Independent Public School - South Metropolitan Education Region

Salary: Level 2, $72,562 - $77,741 per annum (pro-rata) (DOE (SSO) CA 2024)

Employment type: Permanent part‑time (0.6 FTE) commencing Term 3, 2026

Job Summary

Harmony Primary School, located south of Perth in the Harvest Lakes estate, currently counts 475 students. The Student Support Officer works within the Student Services Team to provide pastoral care across all school settings, encouraging attendance and achievement by fostering a supportive environment for students’ emotional, physical, academic and mental wellbeing. This role requires strong communication and partnerships with staff, students, families and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement responsive support systems, including risk assessment, intervention strategies and preventative programs.
  • Collaborate with educators to design, deliver and monitor individualized learning curriculums.
  • Provide direct support to students, liaise with parents, and deliver leadership to education assistant staff.
  • Assist teachers in implementing specialised academic programs and manage monitoring and communication with students, families, and specialist services.
  • Consult regularly with education assistants and school stakeholders to develop and maintain a positive team culture.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in supporting students with special educational needs across all learning areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organisational and time‑management abilities.
  • Proficiency in computerised management information systems, including database, spreadsheet and word processing software.
