Position: Open Rank Assistant, Associate or Full Professor - Physical Therapy

Job Summary

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month tenure‑track faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, beginning August 16, 2026. The role requires collaboration to deliver excellent, student‑centered education, including instruction in the integumentary system, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, lifespan development, professional responsibilities, and introductory examination and intervention skills.

Salary and Benefits

Expected salary upon hire: $76,262 (Assistant Professor), $91,576 (Associate Professor), $116,464 (Full Professor). Responsibilities
  • Teach doctoral‑level courses consistent with expertise and department needs.
  • Advising DPT students and promoting effective teaching and assessment of student learning.
  • Plan, organize, and inform students of course content, readings, assignments, attendance and grading.
  • Schedule and attend office hours; turn in grades by established deadlines.
  • Supervise students in laboratory and simulated learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with faculty to design experiential learning activities and maintain alignment with industry needs.
  • Engage in research and scholarship activities, including publications, presentations and grant applications.
  • Contribute to university service, community and professional service commitments.
  • Maintain current and valid state licensure as required.
Required Qualifications
  • State of Washington PT license (eligible).
  • Earned academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHSc or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution; ABD candidates not considered.
  • Successful teaching experience in higher education.
  • Three years of clinical practice experience as a physical therapist.
  • Current membership in the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement a responsive and flexible approach supporting accessibility for students, faculty and the public.
  • For Associate Professor rank:
    • Six years as a core faculty member in a CAPTE accredited entry‑level DPT program.
    • Five years of clinical practice experience.
    • Established research agenda and record of scholarship.
    • Experience in academic program administration or leadership roles.
    • Participation in CAPTE 10‑year reaccreditation process, specifically contribution to self‑study report.
    • Professional involvement at the state or national level and active service to the PT profession.
  • For Full Professor rank:
    • Ten years as a core faculty member in a CAPTE accredited entry‑level DPT program.
    • Five years of clinical practice experience.
    • Established research agenda and record of scholarship.
    • Experience in academic program administration or leadership roles.
    • Participation in CAPTE 10‑year reaccreditation process, specifically contribution to self‑study report.
    • Professional involvement at the state or national level and active service to the PT profession.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in classroom technology.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement a responsive and flexible approach supporting accessibility for students, faculty and the public.
  • Record of scholarship (publications, national presentations, grants) identifying a line of research and grantsmanship.
