Instruction

  • Regular and varied communication with students to foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Creation of engaging and dynamic learning experiences that promote student learning, discussion, and growth.
  • Consistent feedback and guidance to support students’ academic and professional development.
  • Individualized instructional support that demonstrates genuine care for student well-being and growth.
  • Contribution to the mission and vision of Walden University.
  • Accessibility to students through multiple channels (email, phone, text, office hours, and appointments).

Scholarship

Walden recognizes scholarship as essential to effective teaching and the development of scholar-practitioner students. Faculty engage in scholarship aligned with Walden’s mission, coordinated with academic leadership; specific requirements are determined by the program and/or college.

Service

Faculty are expected to demonstrate a consistent record of service to the institution and broader community, contributing to Walden’s educational mission. Service activities align with the mission and are coordinated with academic leadership; specific requirements are determined by the program and/or college.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Walden University faculty expectations as outlined at the time of employment and in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Participate in required virtual and in-person faculty meetings, residencies, workshops, commencements, and training sessions.
  • Maintain a student-friendly schedule, including availability during evenings and weekends.

Required for All Jobs

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • A doctoral degree in the relevant field or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Candidates who can consider diverse and sometimes conflicting perspectives are preferred.
  • A demonstrated capacity to provide individualized instructional support and guidance to students is essential.
  • Application materials should clearly demonstrate alignment with Walden University’s mission and vision.
  • Experience with doctoral capstone projects focused on problems of practice in the professional work setting is preferred.
  • Work Experience
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required, or a demonstrated capacity to foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
  • Experience supporting doctoral research committees is required, or a demonstrated capacity to mentor a diverse doctoral student population.
  • Experience with distance learning is preferred.
