Starting salary for this position is: $42.05 - $89.48 per hour based on workload category.
This is an adjunct (part-time) position. Compensation will be pro-rated according to the amount of workload assigned. Spokane Colleges reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice. Academic employees are represented by the Association of Higher Education (AHE), which is affiliated with NEA and WEA. Membership is optional.
About Us
Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a part-time adjunct Psychology instructor, housed in the department of Social Sciences. Social Sciences is a large, diverse department with a strong regional reputation for innovation and excellence. There are currently five disciplines in the department:
Anthropology, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. The department is committed to being an inclusive community that strives for equity and enhancement of the diversity of the College's community and curriculum. This instructor will teach Psychology courses with an emphasis on General Psychology and Lifespan Psychology. We seek applicants with the ability to teach in-person at our Spokane campus as well as online.
SFCC seeks applicants with a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to collaboration, ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner, and experience working with people with diverse backgrounds and academic skills. The college strives for faculty who are subject matter experts and who are also knowledgeable about best practices in course design and delivery, innovative strategies, and instructional technologies that support teaching and learning in various modalities, such as traditional 5 day a week in-person classes, hybrid classes, and online classes.
SFCC is a beautiful campus located in the inland Pacific Northwest, on the ancestral home of the Spokane Tribe, near the Spokane River. Our campus is not far from the urban center of Spokane, a mid-sized city with a high quality of life and quick access to the outdoors. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares for and instructs, through a mix of in-person, hybrid and online, transfer-level classes in the discipline of Psychology. Examples of the types of courses typically assigned include:
General Psychology or Lifespan Psychology, you may also be asked to assist with the Bachelor of Science degree program's Motivational Psychology course; - Provides availability and accessibility to students for purpose of academic consulting and support, in a manner appropriate to meet student needs, through a combination of scheduled office hours, e-mail accessibility or other effective means of responsive and timely communication;
