Key Qualifications and Desired

Experience:

• Valid certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience working in K-12 public school settings is highly valued
• Strong knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive instructional strategies
• Proficient in designing and delivering Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to travel to multiple school sites if required

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons to suit individual needs
• Assess student abilities and monitor progress, ensuring IEP goals are addressed
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to support inclusive education
• Consult with support staff, parents, and outside agencies to ensure a coordinated approach
• Train school personnel on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
• Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings
