SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Dishman Hills High School is seeking a highly qualified, collaborative, energetic Career and Technical Education Teacher (CTE) applicant endorsed in Business and Marketing Education (V078000), Technology Education (V210100), or Agriculture Education (V010000) and at least one other endorsement preferred.
At Dishman we maintain a small school environment. This allows us to keep our classes small (typically between 12-14 students per class). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Prior successful experience teaching high school
* CTE Certification with multiple areas of endorsement
* Experience in diverse classrooms
* Experience in Project-based and/or Expeditionary learning
* Willingness to learn and explore alternative pathways to learning
CTE CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
* CTE positions require an initial or continuing CTE certificate directly related to the teaching assignment (Business, Marketing, or Family & Consumer Science) OR the applicant has the ability to obtain CTE certification by meeting all requirements of occupational experience as defined by OSPI and provides evidence of documentation to the district.
* Documentation requirements include:
* Minimum of three years (6,000 hours) of paid occupational experience in CTE endorsement area, please refer to the posted OSPI v-codes.
* Verifiable occupational experience must have been within the past 10 years. If all or part of the 2,000 hours is more than ten years old, candidates must complete an additional 300 hours of recent (occurring in the last two years) occupational experience, which can be volunteer hours in the CTE subject area. Volunteer hours can only be used for the 300 hours of current industry experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate subject matter endorsement.
* Demonstrate value and respect for all, including typically underserved students.
* Demonstrate mature behavior and ability to use sound judgment in working with students, parents, staff, and the community.
* Relate positively to students and parents/guardians of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, different learning styles, and various abilities and disabilities.
* Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills with students, staff, administrators, and parents/guardians.
* Training and/or experience with technology integrating technology into planning, teaching and learning, and record-keeping skills.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and fulfill common departmental/program goals and objectives.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
* Center instruction on high expectations for student achievement by providing clear learning goals and scales, celebrating success, understanding students' interests and backgrounds, and demonstrating values and respect for all, including typically underserved students.
* Use effective teaching practices by helping students effectively interact with new knowledge, practice and deepen knowledge, and engage in cognitively complex tasks.
* Use effective teaching practices including asking questions of students, probing incorrect answers of students, and noticing when students are not engaged.
* Use effective teaching practices by helping students use and apply academic vocabulary and evaluate the effectiveness of individual lessons and units.
* Recognize individual students' learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs by using effective scaffolding of information with a lesson and planning and preparing for the needs of all students.
* Provide clear and intentional focus on subject matter content and curriculum using established content standards and available resources and technology.
* Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment through organizing the physical layout of the classroom and reviewing expectations to rules and procedures.
