Opportunity

The Office of Student Services within Washington State University's College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPPS) seeks an Academic and Student Success Advisor 1 or 2 to join a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment that serves Doctor of Pharmacy students and stakeholders. In this role you will be a member of the advising team, providing quality advising, career, academic, and success support that fulfills the professional student curriculum and ACPE standards.

You will also collaborate with the Director of Recruitment to support the transition of PharmD applicants to admitted students. The position manages a caseload of 150+ students and may require occasional travel for student services training and support.

Responsibilities
  • Provide career, academic, and success advising that fulfills the professional student curriculum and ACPE standards.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Recruitment to support the transition of PharmD applicants to admitted students.
  • Manage a caseload of 150+ students.
  • Occasionally travel to local, regional, and national locations for student services training and support.
  • Build trust and provide safe, supportive opportunities for students from varied backgrounds, including underrepresented, first‑generation, and high‑needs populations.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff of diverse social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
Qualifications
  • Academic and Student Success Advisor 1:
    Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years’ experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience.
  • Academic and Student Success Advisor 2:
    Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years academic advising or related experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience.
  • Positions that lead or supervise require one or more years of full‑time experience leading or directing the work of others.
  • Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques; ability to build trust and provide safe, supportive opportunities for students from varied backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations and to understand institutional barriers and equity gaps faced by historically underserved student populations.
  • Experience providing academic and career advising, success coaching, and/or case management in higher education.
  • Demonstrated computer software skills, including use of office software, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional, courteous, and effective interaction with diverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel, work weekends, and work after regular business hours.
  • Experience in program development and ability to prioritize job tasks effectively and multitask to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technology and software applications.
  • Working knowledge of learning styles, academic success, career development, and retention strategies.
  • Experience using student records databases/programs for higher education institutions.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills to engage students and stakeholders.
  • Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
  • Previous experience with a Doctor of Pharmacy or Health Sciences program.
  • Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations.
Compensation and Benefits

Full‑time (100% FTE), permanent, overtime eligible. Monthly salary ranges:

Academic and Student Success Advisor 1: $3,751.00 – $4,574.00

Academic and Student Success Advisor 2: $4,062.00 – $4,654.00
