Special Education (Designed Instruction) and Supervision Para educator – Temporary Position (2 positions available)
Location: East Valley Middle School – Spokane Valley, Washington
Start Date: Aug 27, 2025 (contingent upon background clearance)
End Date: June 17, 2026 (temporary)
Hours per Day: 6.75 (may vary depending on district needs)
Salary: $20.51 – $23.89 per hour, dependent on placement. Includes $1.50 per hour for personal care tasks such as toileting, diaper changing, bathing, catheterization, feeding.
Reports to: Principal and Program Director or designee
Responsibilities- Assist the special education teacher in implementing, organizing, and preparing classroom programs and materials.
- Provide instruction to students with special needs as assigned and supervised by the special education teacher.
- Assist the special education teacher with record‑keeping tasks as directed.
- Maintain the safety and well‑being of students, taking all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Work daily with students in accordance with scheduled times.
- Facilitate and complete learning experiences designated by the teacher.
- Support building staff in implementing classroom interventions.
- Utilize district software programs including Skyward, Word, Excel, and SMI.
- Maintain appropriate student records and other records as directed.
- Hold a current First Aid/CPR card.
- Provide proof of immunization if born on or after 1/1/1957.
- All candidates must have completed the ETS Praxis, or obtained an AA degree, or have earned 72 quarter / 48 semester credits, or have completed a registered apprenticeship program (documentation required at time of application).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Position available to external candidates only.
