The Olympic Education Manager coordinates the administration of overnight environmental science programming in Olympic National Park. The Education Manager plays a significant role in supervising, supporting, training, and coaching Environmental Science Educators in curriculum and program logistics. They support day-to-day program operations by working closely with the other members of the administrative team. This position is full-time, exempt, reports to the Olympic Education Director, and is based in Port Angeles, Washington.

This position takes place at our campus in Olympic National Park and cannot be performed remotely.

Your primary job will be to:
  • Directly supervise up to 13 Environmental Science Educators, and indirectly supervise an additional 4 Environmental Science Educators
  • Document and support Educator professional development through observation, coaching, and performance review
  • Collaborate to coordinate, implement, and evaluate Educator training and in-services with the Education Team
  • Facilitate payroll for direct reports and other educators as needed
  • Promote and enhance knowledge of scientific content, inquiry-based teaching competency, and Social-Emotional Learning through the implementation and evaluation of educator trainings and programming
  • Coordinate with the Facilities department to support Educator housing placements and resolve situations as they arise
  • Maintain, organize, order, and issue first aid kits, educator uniforms, student loaner gear, and all teaching supplies
  • Oversight of Mentor Educators, including hiring, training, and coaching
Program Support
  • Daily on-campus presence is required.
  • Provide daily management and oversight of the program, to include serving as ‘day manager’ on a rotating basis, running morning meetings, answering phone calls, and checking in with field staff at the end of the day.
  • Substitute for educators in the field, being available to teach with short notice
  • Support Nature Bridge initial response in the event of an emergency by being available on radio for emergencies and general field support
  • Collaborate and share responsibilities with other leaders on the Olympic Education Team:
    • Ensuring the high‑quality implementation of education goals and adherence to the Nature Bridge Theory of Change in all programs
    • Set the agenda for education program meetings and morning meetings
    • Collaborate within the Education team in staff development and curriculum design and maintain knowledge of NGSS and current trends in formal and informal education
    • Using the Nature Bridge EI&D Framework as a guide, regularly engage in personal and professional goal setting and growth in equity and inclusion, and share learnings
    • Monitor customer and educator feedback in collaboration with Sales & Operations to ensure follow-up with customers and staff and close the feedback loop
  • Support the campus work community by:
    • Building and fostering positive work-community interactions
    • Establishing and maintaining respectful, supportive, and compassionate relationships with staff, volunteers, and participants
    • Cultivating and modeling an inclusive and culturally responsive professional learning community
    • Modeling Nature Bridge Core Values, including having and promoting a growth mindset
  • Support the Program Risk Manager in oversight of field risk management
  • Present with confidence in front of a variety of audiences, including students, teachers, board members, staff and the general public
  • Work in partnership with the education/interpretation leaders from both NPS and Park Partner organizations in the Olympic National Park to leverage and strengthen the Nature Bridge‑NPS partnership
  • Support the ongoing development and strengthening of partnerships with schools and community organizations
