Provides continuous, individualized support to a specifically assigned student whose disability-related medical, mobility, physical care, safety, or access needs require dedicated assistance throughout the school day to safely access and participate in educational programming.
- Provide consistent direct support for a specifically assigned student’s mobility, positioning, transfers, lifting, physical access, and daily care needs across school environments.
- Carry out delegated student-specific medical and health care procedures as trained, including G-tube feeding, suctioning, seizure response, and other approved health supports.
- Support ongoing personal care and toileting needs while maintaining student dignity, privacy, and safety.
- Assist the assigned student in accessing instruction, transportation, transitions, meals, recess, and other daily school activities.
- Implement individualized student support plans including Health Care Plans, IEPs, 504 plans, OT/PT guidance, Behavior Intervention Plans, and safety plans with consistency and fidelity.
- Utilize adaptive equipment, mobility devices, lifts, positioning tools, and Assistive Technology specific to the assigned student as trained.
- Monitor, collect, and document student-specific data as directed to assist teams in monitoring effectiveness of support and adjusting interventions.
- Maintain ongoing communication with case managers, related service providers, nursing staff, and administrators regarding implementation of the student’s supports.
- Complete required CPI, de-escalation, medical, and student-specific safety training.
- Demonstrate physical ability to perform lifting, transfers, repositioning, toileting, and other intensive physical support responsibilities throughout the workday.

- Often, positions have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary schedule, all in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) as negotiated.
SALARY: LEVEL 35 on the Para educator (formerly Instructional Assistant) Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school or another state's public school.
