Clinical Assistant Faculty - School of Nursing

Job Summary

Eastern Washington University (EWU) School of Nursing (SON) is hiring a Clinical Assistant Faculty to begin August 16, 2026. The position is a 9‑month academic year appointment (fall semester 2026‑2027 and continues as a nine‑month academic year). The Clinical Assistant Faculty reports to the SON Director and will teach in classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulated learning environments. The role may also include service, research, grant writing, mentoring, community outreach, and participation in professional committees as specified by the collective bargaining agreement.

• Teach nursing courses in classroom, clinical, laboratory and simulated settings.
• Attend all scheduled classes and maintain course schedules.
• Plan, organize and inform students of course content, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and grading.
• Hold office hours and provide timely grading.
• Actively participate in assessment of student learning and use concept‑based teaching methods.
• Develop a Faculty Activity Plan by the end of the first semester outlining teaching, research, service and release time.
• Complete any required university revenue or fund responsibilities; comply with policy for the College of Health Science and Public Health.

• Master’s degree in nursing.
• Unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse license or eligibility for licensure.
• Current healthcare provider CPR certification.
• At least three (3) years of recent clinical experience in the assigned area.
• Prior teaching experience in a clinical, laboratory, or simulated learning environment.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, patients, clinical partners, etc.
• Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities.
• Demonstrated ability to apply culturally responsive and flexible approaches that support diverse learners.

• Terminal degree in nursing or a related health or education field.
• Five (5) or more years of recent clinical experience.
• One (1) or more years of prior teaching in a clinical or simulated environment.
• Experience working with Canvas or another learning management system.
• Demonstrated experience interacting with diverse communities across race, class, ability, sexuality and gender.

Base salary: $72,419 per year.
