Essential Functions:
- Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the guidance of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives.
- Administer classroom assignments, tests, homework, and make‑up work to assist teachers in the instructional process.
- Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments (e.g., reading, listening, writing assistance, reinforcing English lessons, spelling practice, facilitating activities, computer learning programs) to practice and reinforce learning concepts and help students reach academic goals and grade‑level standards.
- Communicate with teachers and/or parents to evaluate progress and implement classroom objectives.
- Implement, under the supervision of the assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans to present and reinforce learning concepts.
- Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records to ensure availability of items, provide written reference, maintain a safe learning environment, and meet mandated requirements.
- Monitor individual or groups of students in various settings (classroom, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Report observations and incidents related to specific students (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate behavior, rule violations, safety conditions) to appropriate instructional or administrative personnel.
- Support classroom teachers and other school personnel in implementing curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Attend meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire or convey information related to job functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Requirements:
- Must be 16+ years old.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have an associate’s degree or 60 quarter/48 semester hours, or must have passed the Paralegal Praxis test.
