OverviewThe Center for Student Excellence supports student success from admissions through graduation across all campuses. As the Academic Advisor and Success Coach for the WSU Spokane Campus, you will provide academic advising and success coaching to a caseload of approximately 175 undergraduate nursing students. Your role includes monitoring academic progress, identifying challenges, and implementing interventions to promote persistence, achievement, and timely degree completion.
Responsibilities- Conduct academic advising and success coaching for undergraduate nursing students.
- Monitor academic progress and student records to identify individuals experiencing challenges.
- Implement targeted interventions, coaching, references, and other support strategies.
- Collaborate with college personnel to resolve academic issues.
- Support presentation and programming initiatives related to student success.
- Maintain accurate advising documentation.
- Contribute to institutional efforts that promote student persistence and timely degree completion.
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years’ experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience.
- Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team collaboration ability.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Independent work style and initiative.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and work some evening or weekend hours.
- One (1) year or more of experience providing student services in higher education.
- Experience in academic advising, student coaching, or related student‑facing roles.
- Experience supporting students through proactive advising or retention initiatives.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of curriculum management practices and academic policies.
- Experience with student academic records, degree audits, and progression monitoring.
- Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and student information systems.

SalaryMonthly Salary: $3,750.85 – $5,397.56 (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
