Job Description & How to Apply Below

A museum curator is a professional who manages and cares for a museum's collections of objects, such as artwork, historical artifacts, fossils, or scientific specimens. Curators research these items, decide which ones will be displayed, and create exhibits that help visitors learn about history, art, culture, or science. They also work to preserve and protect valuable objects so they can be enjoyed by future generations.

Museum curators often work with educators, historians, artists, and researchers to develop engaging exhibits and educational programs. They may also acquire new items for the museum, write exhibit descriptions, and apply for grants to support museum projects. Most museum curators earn a college degree, and many complete a master's degree in a field such as history, art, archaeology, or museum studies.

This career is a great fit for students who enjoy learning, research, storytelling, and sharing knowledge with others.

A master's degree is the first level of graduate study.

To apply for a master degree you usually must already hold an undergraduate degree (a bachelor's degree). Master's degrees usually take between two and three years to complete beyond undergraduate study.
