Job Title

Provide beginning teachers the support, assistance, and resources needed to make their teaching experience in Spokane Public Schools successful and effective. Upon request, provide assistance to experienced teachers who are developing new instructional strategies or transitioning into new teaching assignments, with an emphasis on Special Education Support.

POSITION REQUIREMENT:

SALARY:

Meet with assigned teachers on a regular basis to plan lessons, reflect on instructional practices, provide feedback, and share resources.
Observe assigned teachers on a regular basis and conduct observation conferences.
Arrange and participate in visitations of exemplary classroom teachers throughout the district.
Work with assigned teachers to develop goals and a plan of action for the school year.
Make time available for staff development and consultation outside the school day.
Meet and plan with the Career in Teaching (CIT) mentors and program facilitator on a weekly basis.
Work as part of a team to develop and conduct professional development activities for new teachers.
Plan and facilitate monthly cadre meetings and/or mini sessions for assigned new teachers.
Participate in required professional development activities for mentors.
Follow timelines and make required reports.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualifies for a valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations.
Has completed a minimum of five (5) successful years of teaching in Spokane Public Schools.
Demonstrates outstanding classroom teaching ability and a thorough understanding of the instructional/learning process.
Demonstrates talent in written and oral communications.
Demonstrates effective application of a wide variety of classroom management and instructional techniques.
Demonstrates ability to analyze and apply assessment data.
Demonstrates ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a diverse group of other professional staff members in a confidential manner.
Demonstrates flexibility in learning new concepts and adapts to a variety of assignments and conditions.
Demonstrates clear understanding of state and district learning targets and assessment requirements.
Demonstrates clear understanding of cultural competency.
Demonstrates the ability to work successfully with racially, culturally, and linguistically different groups.
Demonstrates integration of technology into planning, learning, and record-keeping activities.
Demonstrates confidence when being observed by other teachers.
Demonstrates the ability to effectively present to adults in a variety of contexts.
