Salary Range: $3,827 - $5,111

Starting salary for this position is: $3,827 (Monthly)
Employees hired at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. An employee hired at anything higher than the entry step of the range will have salary step advancement after 12 months and every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase.

2)

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Workforce Services, this position coordinates career pathways programming, supports professional-technical program outreach, and assists students with career readiness, workforce exploration, and pathway navigation.

This position supports student engagement, recruitment, retention, career readiness, and pathway navigation initiatives connected to professional-technical education programs. The Specialist assists students with workforce exploration, career planning, and navigation of educational opportunities and support resources that promote student success and workforce readiness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule, promote, and provide workshops and activities regarding career development, such as: job application best practices, resume writing, cover letter writing, career exploration strategies, interviewing, job searching, networking, and career readiness. *
  • Make presentations in appropriate courses and campus events about the services provided by Workforce Services and professional-technical educational opportunities. *
  • Assist students with career pathway exploration, workforce readiness planning, and navigation of professional-technical educational opportunities and support services. *
  • Track and maintain data to support continuous improvement and strategic planning. This includes collecting attendance and engagement metrics for career-related events and generating regular reports that help evaluate program impact, relevance, and alignment with student and workforce needs. *
  • Maintain program literature (brochures, pamphlets), quarterly newsletters, websites, and other communication mediums as necessary, including marketing and recruitment materials. *
  • Provide appropriate referrals to internal and/or external resources that can serve specific student or faculty member needs. *
  • Coordinate with Workforce Services staff, faculty, and campus partners to connect students with career readiness opportunities, workforce resources, and pathway support services. *
  • Assist with planning and promotion of delegated special events. *
  • Support recruitment and retention activities for professional-technical programs through outreach, presentations, and student communications. *
  • Deliver presentations regarding professional-technical programs, career pathways, and workforce opportunities to prospective and current students. *
  • Represent SFCC professional-technical opportunities by partnering with Alternative Education, Special Programs, Work Source, and community organizations. *
  • Provide operational continuity and support for Career Pathways initiatives including student outreach, career readiness activities, and pathway navigation during absences, peak periods, or departmental transitions. *
  • May assist with grant-related projects. *
  • May supervise or lead lower-level staff including temporary hourly employees, student employees, and work-study employees as assigned. *
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
  • Comply with district policy, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements. *
  • Support and advance the Spokane Colleges strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned. *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution. Or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all required competencies for this position.

  • Experience or knowledge of employment skills including applications, resumes, interviewing and job search methods and techniques.
