What You Will Be Doing
The Director of Maintenance Operations is responsible to the Dean of the Spokane Campus and Moody Aviation to lead the production aircraft maintenance department providing efficient high-quality inspections and maintenance for aircraft owned and operated by Moody Aviation as well as other work delegated by the Dean.

Moody's course of study is purposed to provide knowledge and skills useful for Christian missionary service. Therefore, mentoring co-workers and students in a manner that demonstrates the department's concerns of honoring the King, caring for people, achieving and maintaining excellence, and increasing effectiveness is a key component of the Director of Maintenance Operations' role.

- Model a high level of aviation professionalism, integrity, and servanthood to our staff and student body while exercising conservative judgement and safety awareness in all operations.
- Model, abide by, and ensure compliance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, manufacturers' requirements, and the Moody Aviation Operations Manual.
- Maintain an excellent working relationship with the Spokane FSDO.
- Lead production foreman, aircraft mechanics, mechanics-in-training and tool calibration staff to provide efficient, high quality aircraft inspections, maintenance, and rebuild projects resulting in timely and excellent customer service for the Moody Aviation Flight Department.
- Maintain open and intentional interdepartmental communication with key stakeholders (including but not limited to aircraft maintenance, maintenance training, flight, and safety departments) with clear milestones set and tracked for each project.
- Assure maintenance staff are properly trained to accomplish the tasks assigned.
- Serve as Chief Inspector for Moody Aviation.
- Establish, maintain, and document quality standards in the Moody Aviation Operations Manual and other associated documents which relate to aircraft maintenance and the care of those working on aircraft.
- Create and maintain procedures with respect to aircraft maintenance that emphasize safety, efficiency, clear record keeping, and clarity for all those operating under them.
- Train, equip, and ensure Moody's mechanics clearly document their work, implement the standards, safety practices, safety management system, and procedures established.
- Lead departmental personnel recruitment and selection, initial and recurrent training, and professional development opportunities for maintenance staff.
- Oversee preparation and control of shop operating and equipment budget.
- Ensure proper condition, cleanliness, safety, and quality of equipment and work areas.
- Provide current reference material and tooling for work to be performed.
- Lead department meetings, participate in Aviation Leadership Team and other assigned staff meetings.
- Serve as Chair of the Maintenance Standards Committee.
- Contribute to institutional and program development through participation in training curriculum feedback, committee service, and other duties as assigned.
- Engage in student mentoring and external representation by leading small group chapel sessions, supporting student life outside the classroom, and representing Moody Aviation to prospective students and community partners.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Knowledge and unreserved commitment to MBI's mission, doctrinal statement, and Moody Aviation's traditional distinctives and standards
- Bachelor's degree
- A&P Certification with active Inspection Authorization
- Experience in a 14 CFR Part 145 or 135 maintenance facility servicing light to medium General Aviation aircraft
- Ten years of aviation maintenance experience and/or mission aviation field experience
- Five years management experience
- Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
- Strong instructional skills and teaching experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and aviation maintenance tracking software
- Master's degree
- FAA approved Flight Instructor (CFI) Airplane Single Engine Land (ASEL)
- Experience in avionics and engine monitoring systems
