JOB SUMMARY: Contributes to the daily operations of R&D including, but not limited to, computer-aided-design (CAD) and drawings of product development parts/assemblies, CAD and drawings of factory automation equipment, label drawings and production data to support factory operations, and assisting R&D Engineering with other technical documentation and operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)
- Designs mechanical and electrical components, laser and ink printed labels, and final assemblies based on engineering practices and principles for review and approval by R&D Engineering staff.
- Creates mechanical and/or electrical drawings, inspection drawings, specifications, and assembly drawings for review and approval by R&D Engineering staff.
- Design and manipulate graphic artwork for product label creation, shipping label creation, and laser etch label creation.
- Creates label and PCB laser etch inspection drawings for review and approval by R&D Engineering staff.
- Constructs bill of materials and defines necessary materials for accurate data entry into the corporate MRP system.
- Writes engineering change requests to change design/drawings and bills of materials.
- Reviews customer provided data to determine design requirements (dimensions, tolerances, compliance, graphic requirements etc.).
- Perform on-line research to identify and obtain compliance logo artwork and mechanical dimensions of components and assemblies.
- Develops spreadsheets, graphs, presentation materials, reports, and other related documents that may require research, analysis, and independent judgement.
- Complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, and terminology.
- Enters specified information into a computer to generate official records of approved designs.
- Performs other duties when required that are outside of normal job duties.
- Inspects accuracy of own work as well as coworker's designs and engineering documentation.
- Organize, plan, and prioritize work by developing specific goals in order to complete your work.
- Performs a variety of departmental specific projects and tasks, which require the use of independent judgement, initiative, and tact to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations.
- Sends and receives packages to domestic and international addresses.
- Set up meetings, reserve conference rooms, and take meeting minutes.
- Creates purchase requisitions for engineering items.
- Attends meetings as needed to support organization activity.
- Interfaces with customers as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree or equivalent in electro-mechanical design or a related field, and two to five years experience in technical designing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, customer specifications, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine and non-routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to interface with associates in support of product designs in a team based environment.
- Ability to apply engineering mathematics, algebra, and geometry.
- Ability to use CAD system and peripheral equipment (Creo, Solid Works, Bartender, and AutoCAD).
- Machining experience with a manual mill, manual lathe, drill press, and other basic shop equipment.
- Experience with CNC operated machines such as mills or routers.
