Telecommunications Engineering Technician

The Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking a Telecommunications Engineering Technician to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area - Engineering Services Group located in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the Brand‑New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS), a new system that will replace outdated infrastructure including radar, software, hardware and telecommunications networks to manage modern travel.

Job Duties
  • Review FAA databases and provide input or draft Site Survey Reports (SSR).
  • Conduct site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports.
  • Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES and vendor personnel.
  • Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP).
  • Generate and/or update drawings, sketches and artifacts.
  • Draft project plans for site preparation activities.
  • Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC and Air Traffic & Operations personnel.
  • Develop transition plans.
  • Resolve schedule conflicts.
  • Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities.
  • Work with LECs on schedules.
  • Develop briefings, information and reports on District status.
  • Work with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc.
  • Support District POC and SSCs with day‑to‑day work activities.
  • Review and provide comments on vendor Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience; additional experience may be substituted or considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to travel 75–100%.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance (eligible if U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident who has resided in the U.S. continuously for at least 3 of the past 5 years without breaks).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suites.
Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience working with telco systems performing network troubleshooting.
  • Proficient working with AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of the Electric Code (NEC), Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and Airspace System Equipment Tower.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
  • Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR and RCAG.
