Job Overview
The Public Works Department is seeking an experienced civil engineering professional to serve as Engineer III or IV, based in Port Townsend, WA. The Engineer is responsible for delivering capital projects, including wastewater facilities, roads, trails, bridges, and stormwater infrastructure, through design, construction management, and inspection.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop plans, specifications, and estimates for multiple major projects; conduct legal, technical, and grant research; manage consultant, grant, and construction operations; perform advanced professional engineering design and construction related to wastewater, roads, transportation, solid waste, and parks facilities; act as a resource to staff engineers and technicians on complex projects.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, architecture, or a closely related field.
- Seven (7) years progressively more responsible civil, traffic, or mechanical engineering experience (or five years for Engineer III). Each position requires 7 years for Engineer IV.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Washington State (or registered as a Professional Engineer in another state with an ability to obtain WA State registration within six months).
- P.E. required.
Teamsters Grade A3-M or A3-N: 40 hours/week with benefits. Pay range: $42.46/hr – $50.74/hr for Engineer III; $44.58/hr – $53.26/hr for Engineer IV. Full medical benefits including dental and vision; retirement through Washington State DRS; 12 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave.
