Job Description & How to Apply Below

At ECOS®, we are a women‑led company with a mission to create plant‑powered laundry detergents and cleaners that are safer for people, pets and the planet. As a Climate Positive company, we restore more than 100% of its carbon, water, and energy use back to the earth, in our four manufacturing facilities right here in the USA.

We have an immediate opening for a detail oriented and analytical Sustainability Specialist to support and advance ECOS' sustainability initiatives across all divisions. This position plays an important role in managing waste diversion programs, maintaining TRUE Zero Waste certification efforts, tracking sustainability metrics, and supporting environmental reporting initiatives. The ideal candidate combines sustainability knowledge with strong data management and analytical skills and has experience supporting sustainability certification programs such as TRUE [Total Resource Use and Efficiency] and LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design].

Key

Job Functions:
  • Manage sustainability databases and maintain accurate and organized resource use records and metrics, including waste stream diversion, energy use, and water consumption.
  • Analyze sustainability performance data such as waste stream production and diversion, energy use, and water consumption to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Utilize Excel tools, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis functions, to support sustainability reporting and decision‑making.
  • Lead data collection and documentation supporting TRUE Zero Waste and LEED O+M certifications and recertification activities.
  • Support LEED‑related sustainability initiatives and documentation as applicable.
  • Coordinate certification audits and maintain compliance records.
  • Administer hands‑on, on‑site sustainability and waste stream audits to analyze program performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Audit results will be shared with internal sustainability, operations, administrative, and leadership teams.
  • Identify outlets such as local non‑profits and MRFs (Material Recovery Facilities) for additional waste stream diversion opportunities, especially hard‑to‑recycle materials.
  • Expand supplier take‑back program by identifying waste stream reuse opportunities and coordinating with internal supply chain team members and external suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with operations teams to calculate waste volumes/weights, programming and processing costs, and identify opportunities for further waste reductions, including but not limited to PVA byproducts and laundry detergent sheet scrap.
  • Develop internal communications and training to reinforce sustainability programs and policies.
  • Handle additional special projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Business Analytics, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in sustainability, waste reduction, environmental programs, ESG reporting, or related functions preferred.
  • Experience supporting TRUE Zero Waste and LEED certification programs preferred.
  • TRUE Advisor and/or LEED Green Associate credential preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi‑task.
Why join the ECOS family:
  • Comprehensive group insurance including medical, dental, vision, short‑ and long‑term disability, and supplemental insurance plans including accident and critical illness.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid vacation and sick pay.
  • 10 paid holidays per year including your birthday.
  • Paid parental bonding leave.
  • Sustainability incentives for purchasing eco‑friendly car.
  • Wellness programs and incentives.
