Cardinal Engineering Associates, Inc. is an established consulting Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm located in central Connecticut and celebrating its 61st year in business. We are seeking a Survey Party Chief or Civil Engineer with experience in Land Surveying and Computer Aided Drafting.

Job Description

The Party Chief will supervise members of the survey crew and perform boundary and topographic surveys for state and municipal infrastructure, as well as private or public land development projects, and prepare topographic and boundary maps using AutoCAD.

• Complete site control, boundary reconnaissance, construction staking and topographic surveys.
• Supervise crew members to complete daily survey assignments.
• Work independently as a one‑person crew as required.
• Operate, on a daily basis, various surveying instruments.
• Upload and download data from collectors.
• Manage survey equipment and supplies.
• Prepare topographic and boundary maps.

• 2 years’ experience working as a party chief for civil engineering projects.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise survey crew members.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
• Proficiency in the use of survey equipment (GPS, robotics, total stations, levels, and data collectors).
• Experience with boundary and topographic surveys, as‑built surveys, construction stakeout, and land records research.
• Experience preparing topographic and boundary maps utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities in field and office.
• Strong supervisory and communication skills.

• Minimum of 4 years of survey experience required.
• Must have a High School Diploma.
• Supplemental courses in surveying or CAD are a plus.

• Knowledge of AutoCAD.

• Fundamentals of Land Surveying Certificate is a plus.

• High School degree required.
• Associate’s or B.S. degree in a relevant field is a plus.
