Project Engineer – Offsite Manufacturing
This Project Engineer role supports an offsite manufacturing team in Spokane, focusing on large, complex projects in a fast-paced environment. You will develop and manage project plans, schedules, and scopes of work while coordinating procurement, logistics, and technical documentation. The position offers the opportunity to join an established, diverse team where you can make an immediate impact, collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, and contribute to continuous improvement in construction and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and scopes of work for offsite manufacturing projects.
- Manage procurement and purchasing activities, including coordinating with suppliers and vendors.
- Oversee supply chain coordination to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
- Track project financials and support adherence to budgets, including monitoring costs and forecasts.
- Assist with budgeting, estimating, and financial oversight on projects, including cost tracking and reporting.
- Review and approve or support the approval of change orders in alignment with project requirements and budgets.
- Coordinate logistics and vendor communication to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, and schedule tracking using tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Interpret shop drawings and support construction sequencing to ensure work is completed in the correct order.
- Support project coordination across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) disciplines and HVAC systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and improve overall project efficiency.
- Support project managers and field teams with technical documentation, reporting, and project correspondence.
- Apply a strong understanding of construction processes, including steel work, heavy equipment, and general sequencing.
- Support large data-center projects by coordinating with major mechanical subcontractors and other trade partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve construction methods and offsite manufacturing processes.
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and issues.
- Maintain organized project records, including schedules, financial reports, RFIs, submittals, and change documentation.
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and process improvement within the project team.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or an equivalent field, or comparable field experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
- Two or more years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction.
- Proficiency with Navisworks for model review and coordination.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for document review and markup.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for tracking costs, schedules, and project data.
- Experience using scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, including steel work, heavy equipment, and general construction sequencing.
- Experience with purchasing coordination and material logistics in a construction or manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems, including HVAC systems, in commercial or industrial projects.
- Experience working with or supporting major mechanical subcontractors on commercial construction projects.
- Experience with financial oversight on projects, including budgeting, estimating, approving change orders, and cost tracking.
- Experience in project coordination for commercial construction, including mechanical and electrical scopes.
- Ability to interpret shop drawings and understand construction sequencing.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
