We are seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a large, multi‑department organization. This contract‑to‑hire role offers the opportunity to contribute to key financial processes while working alongside a collaborative accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, solid analytical skills, and the ability to operate in a structured, fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform month‑end close duties for assigned areas of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with accounting policies and GAAP.
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts, investigating variances and ensuring data integrity.
- Calculate and record accruals, deferrals, amortization entries, and other monthly adjustments.
- Assist with preparing financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
- Query, extract, and analyze financial data to support decision‑making across the organization.
- Assist with quarterly and annual audit requests, providing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support internal controls, policy compliance, and process documentation efforts.
- Maintain organized, up‑to‑date financial records and historical data.
Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
- Proficiency in managing corporate tax, sales tax, and preparing corporate tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of journal entries and general ledger processes.
- Ability to perform financial reconciliations and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Familiarity with financial reporting and analysis tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication abilities for collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Experience with audit documentation and compliance processes.
