The Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist performs servicing duties as they relate to the accurate accounting, settlement, administration, and maintenance of mortgage loans in accordance with regulatory and investor guidelines. This position may focus on specified areas of Mortgage Loan Servicing including customer service, escrow administration, new loan boarding and quality control, loan maintenance and/or payment processing. The Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist will collaborate with each functional area within Mortgage Loan Servicing to ensure procedures are developed and maintained, resource needs are identified, cross‑training efforts are coordinated, and assist leadership with departmental and field communication.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain Mortgage Loan Servicing procedures.
- Identify mortgage loan servicing training needs, develop training materials, and assist with scheduling and delivery.
- Provide mortgage loan servicing and support functions such as processing loan payments/corrections, payoffs, and responding to internal and external customer inquiries.
- Administer mortgage loan escrow accounts, including maintenance, monitoring, and payment of taxes and insurance.
- Collaborate with Mortgage Loan Servicing leadership to identify, propose, and implement workflow improvements.
- Maintain a working knowledge of First Interstate Bank policies, investor guidelines, and federal regulations that apply to Mortgage Loan Servicing including Regulation E, Regulation X, and the Bank Secrecy Act.
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced personal computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and e‑mail.

- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to appropriately elevate issues requiring problem solving and decision making.
- Ability to resolve complex account issues with little assistance.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 1–3 years experience in a financial institution within loan servicing required.
- Understanding of loan accounting systems, loan payment types, and loan processing preferred.
- Dexterity of hands/fingers to operate computer keyboard and mouse – frequent.
- Lifting – occasional (up to 10 lbs).
- Sitting – frequent.
- Overtime – subject to business need.
- Noise level – moderate.
- Typical work hours – M‑F (8‑5).
- Regular and predictable attendance – required.
Pay range: $21.45 to $32.19 per hour in Washington State, dependent on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
