Financial Systems Specialist

Job OverviewThis position is responsible for supporting the group with processing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process. The primary focus is on the general ledger process, maintaining the integrity of the underlying general ledger information and meeting pre-stated deadlines efficiently. It also includes providing hands-on systems support to the Corporate Finance group, serving as liaison between functional users and IT technical staff, testing, maintaining, and monitoring financial programs and systems, supporting upgrades/installation of applications and systems, assisting users with computer systems and programs, updating system process documents and procedures manuals, including test plans, and supporting the monthly and quarterly closing processes as related to systems and reporting for 40 plus entities.
Education and Experience- B.S. in Accounting or Computer Science related field or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years' experience in GAAP, IFRS and/or STAT financial reporting.
- Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP accounting guidance and ability to research accounting related issues.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and understand complex issues.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong multi-tasking skills.
- Strong Excel (creating macros a plus) and database skills.
- Ability to work under very tight deadlines.
- Continually seeks to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the reporting process.
- Experience with People Soft Financials including nVision reporting tool and SAP financial systems a plus.
- Insurance background preferred.
