Summary
The Community & Business Banker delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions. This role is responsible for maintaining client relationships with an emphasis on First Interstate Bank's Service Commitments and in accordance with our vision and values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering client questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions.
- Open and maintain a variety of products, including consumer and business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, consumer and small business credit cards, and origin all types of personal loans.
- Process new consumer and small business loan requests.
- Hold financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Identify referral opportunities to other lines of business—including, but not limited to, Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management—and fully embrace and utilize 360 View to document referrals and other client activity.
- Build client relationships through outbound engagement and proactive measures.
- Perform teller duties as needed, including check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, processing loan payments, and accurately counting currency and coin.
- Complete work accurately with minimal errors.
- Participate in volunteer activities and financial education efforts.
- Stay current on regulatory changes and demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Associate's Degree preferred.
- 1-3 years banking or related experience required.
- Registered Mortgage Loan Originator per the SAFE Act preferred.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Uses tact and diplomacy effectively when interacting with clients and coworkers.
- Proficient with personal computers, Microsoft software programs, and strong 10-key skills.
- Maintains working knowledge of digital platforms, CRM systems, and emerging technologies.
- Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Able to write simple correspondence.
- Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to clients and other employees.
- Able to perform basic arithmetic and compute rates, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
- Demonstrates timely completion of work and adjusts to workload demands to meet expected deadlines.
- Produces complete and accurate work, displaying pride and professionalism.
- Takes personal initiative and serves as a positive example for others.
The job requires frequent handling, hearing, speaking, walking, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. Typical work hours vary based on scheduling and business need, with occasional travel as needed.
Compensation and BenefitsThe anticipated pay range for this position is $28.19 - $43.74 per hour in WA, dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
