Note Candidates who have not attended a law‑enforcement academy will be required to attend the 18‑week Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA) and will be sponsored by Parks and Recreation. Candidates who have completed a law‑enforcement academy (NOT BLEA) must submit a syllabus for equivalence and will be required to attend a two‑week BLEA Equivalency Course.
These positions are not eligible for telework; physical site presence is required.
DutiesPark Ranger 2’s protect, preserve, and enhance state parks and natural resources while ensuring visitor safety.
Responsibilities include:
- Communicating with the public, providing information and guidance.
- Identifying and protecting wetlands, archaeological sites, and other sensitive or endangered locations.
- Preparing and delivering interpretive and educational talks about park resources.
- Completing law‑enforcement activities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- United States citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Valid driver’s license (unrestricted, except for corrective lenses).
- Must be 21 years of age by date of hire.
- At least two years of college, military experience, commissioned law‑enforcement experience, natural‑resource or recreation field experience.
DESIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Previous work experience in a State or National Park.
- College coursework in natural resources or recreation.
- Bilingual – English/Spanish.
- Knowledge of Native American tribal culture, perspective, history, language, traditional arts, or cultural practices.
