Description
Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager of Trauma Services, performs a variety of duties essential to maintaining the Trauma Registry as mandated by the Department of Health. Responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Trauma Registry by coding and abstracting the clinical and demographic data from patient records. The Trauma Registrar works independently and with the team, assuming accountability for all work performed.
Required Qualifications- Coursework/Training in Medical terminology
- Coursework/Training in Human anatomy
- Knowledge of Medical terminology
- 1 year of experience in a Healthcare or related setting
- 1 year of Medical record abstracting and/or coding
- 1 year in Medical registry or 2+ years working in a healthcare-related field
- 1 year of Injury severity coding and reimbursement coding
- Coursework/Training in Medical coding
- Upon hire:
Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR)
