Role

summary

Direct Support Professionals provide meaningful support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to gain skills for independent living and to participate in the Spokane community. The role contributes to a quality of life by enabling supported individuals to work, socialize, and recreate as they wish, with professional staff who are fully qualified to support their needs. The organization operates 24/7 and seeks motivated, enthusiastic, and dependable team members who contribute to a goal- and success-oriented environment.

There is opportunity for advancement and on-the-job training, along with assistance in obtaining required certifications in this field.

Responsibilities
  • Support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to gain skills for independent living and community participation.
  • Work as part of a 24/7 operations team with flexibility, including weekend shifts.
  • Assist with transportation and community outings as needed, including transporting clients to appointments and activities.
  • Maintain professional conduct and safety standards to support participants’ well-being.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass fingerprint background checks.
  • Reliable personal transportation for work-related use and a valid WA driver’s license with proof of liability insurance. May be trained on the operation and use of agency vehicles.
  • Willingness to attend and complete all required trainings within the designated timeline.
Compensation and benefits

Compensation: $21.50 per hour, non-exempt, full-time 40 hours per week. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, 13 paid holidays, and paid time off after 60 days of hire (not to exceed 90 days).

* All pay is based on longevity at The Arc of Spokane; thus the starting pay for this position is $21.50 per hour.
