The Spokane Mining Research Division is part of the NIOSH Mining Program. PositionDescription:
This position is to provide professional industrial hygiene scientific support and expertise for designing and conducting research focused on identifying, analyzing, and reporting on emerging industrial hygiene health issues and problems as it relates to occupational safety and health, as well as providing expert advice to agency installations nationwide.
The Supervisory Research Industrial Hygienist will carry out the duties and responsibilities outlined below:
What you'll be doing day to day:- Providing scientific consultation and technical expertise and promote partnerships on industrial hygiene evaluation and exposure assessment research including the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace hazards, and promote partnerships.
- Conducting exposure assessment and occupational health research projects and provide exposure assessment support for epidemiological and health studies that elucidate the relationship between workplace hazards and adverse health outcomes.
- Overseeing the technical quality, quantity, and timeliness of work produced by subordinates, which involves reviewing written and oral reports, providing comments and suggestions for improving these reports, and ultimately approving final products.
- Providing scientific and administrative leadership to teams, set priorities and assigning work, monitoring and leading team in all tasks, and providing advice and guidance in scientific and administrative matters;
Serving as a project planning resource and mentor.
