What You’ll Do

You’ll play a vital role in supporting individuals on their mental health journey while ensuring exceptional care and compliance standards:

1.Maintain current reporting, documentation, scheduling, and billing in accordance with professional standards, state and local guidelines, and reimbursement requirements.

2.Evaluate the patient’s abilities and formulate the patient’s treatment plan through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews.

3.Synthesize evaluation results into a plan of care, which reflects strengths and/or barriers to patient discharge requirements; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention.

4. D evelop intervention plans based on patient needs and evaluation results.

5.Provide evidence based on speech therapy intervention to improve patient’s performance skills and participation.

6.Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual treatment plans to achieve goals.

7.Provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate patient participation and physical performance within their specific discharge environment.

8.Adapt and modify the environment, equipment and materials including assistive technology, specialized adaptive equipment, and train instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help patient function as independently as possible.

9.Educate patient, staff, and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as health maintenance and safety.

10.Plan, coordinate, and conduct continuing education for facility staff, parents, and students.

11.Monitor and reassess the effects of speech therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.

12.Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.

13.Manage inventory of therapeutic equipment, assessment tools and project needs for budget planning.

14.Maintain clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines and Medicare policy.

15.Maintain productivity at or above departmental standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of accredited Speech Therapy school.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Medicare reimbursement, billing and documentation standards; physical therapy theories, models of practice, principles, and evidence-based practice; human development throughout the life span; knowledge of the influence of disabilities, socio-cultural and socioeconomic factors on patient’s ability to participate in occupations; knowledge of the federal, state, local legislation, regulations, policies and procedures that mandate and guide physical therapy practice in Skilled Nursing Facility.
  • Current license by Washington State Board of Speech Therapy.
