Spokane Public Schools Staff Member

As a Spokane Public Schools staff member, you'll uphold our commitment to creating a loving and collaborative learning community where all students belong and thrive. This position works with students ranging from kindergarten to 12th grades at various locations in conjunction with State approved Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). The students are dealing with social, behavioral, and mental health difficulties. All positions are benefited, including access to medical, dental, vision, life, and disability. Positions are part of the Washington State retirement system. There is a potential for additional hours for family, evening, and family night work as needed.

Duties include individual, group, and family work during the day. Some work may be required after school day hours and evening work. The jobs are milieu based and work as a team with teachers and other school personnel. Working with building administrators, counselors, and other staff is a required skill. Knowledge of community resources and the skill of interacting with the community on behalf of the students is necessary.

The ability to interact and work within the school system to transition students is required.

Master's degree in accepted related field from an accredited college or university required (if graduating with Master's Degree in the Spring, applications will be accepted).

Benefits--Medical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.

Often, positions have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary schedule, all in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) as negotiated.

SALARY: LEVEL 23 on the Educational Support Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical and psycho-educational services to individuals (students/parents/guardians, etc.), including individual, family, and group therapy. Services may also include more formal instruction, such as training or seminars.
  • Manage individualized caseload in accordance with program and state guidelines, including intake, progress notes, assessment and diagnosis, treatment plan development, implementation of treatment plan, risk assessment and management, and analysis and evaluation of the course and results of the treatment process.
  • Work with building administrators, counselors, and other staff regarding student and family needs as confidentiality laws provided.
  • Maintain clinical records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner, in accordance with state and agency policy and procedure.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, including regular supervision and therapist meetings.
  • Provide staff in-service training on occasion as needed and as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
  • Master's degree in accepted related field from an accredited college or university required (if graduating with Masters Degree in the Spring, applications will be accepted).
  • Minimum two years experience in direct treatment preferred.
  • Washington State License in Mental Health (marriage and family therapy and social work license acceptable) required. MHP preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully perform all Therapist duties and responsibilities as noted above.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within the agency's structure, to relate constructively to colleagues and community, and to use professional guidance and supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with a diverse group of students, colleagues, district staff, and parents/guardians in a positive, professional, and confidential manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work within the school system to transition students is required.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside regular school hours or in the evenings.
  • Relates positively to children, youth, and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
