Position: Hospice Chaplain | Pierce County

Puget Sound Hospice is seeking an experienced full-time Hospice Chaplain to join our Hospice division in Pierce County
!

Responsibilities:

Hospice Chaplain:

  • Provide Spiritual Support :
    Offer compassionate spiritual and emotional care to patients and families, respecting their beliefs.
  • Conduct Assessments :
    Perform and document spiritual assessments to guide individualized care.
  • Collaborate with Care Team :
    Integrate spiritual support into the care plan with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Bereavement Counseling :
    Provide grief support to families during and after a patient’s passing.
  • Plan Services :
    Lead memorial services or rituals as requested by the family.
  • Educate Staff :
    Train staff on spiritual care and cultural diversity.
  • Community Coordination :
    Connect patients with community faith resources when needed.
  • Confidential Documentation :
    Maintain records of care and interactions, ensuring confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field is required
    .
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a chaplaincy, preferably in hospice or palliative care settings.
  • Familiarity with various spiritual/cultural practices related to end-of-life care.
  • Certification by a recognized chaplaincy organization (e.g., APC, NACC) is a plus.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in hospice
  • Possesses and maintains current CPR Certification
  • A licensed driver with an insured automobile
