Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, detail‑driven Payroll & HR Manager to manage payroll operations, benefits administration, HR processes, and key aspects of office operations for our physician‑owned practice. This full‑time hybrid role blends hands‑on payroll management with collaborative HR leadership and provides essential redundancy for day‑to‑day administrative functions.

The ideal candidate brings deep payroll expertise, strong bookkeeping skills, and the interpersonal finesse to partner effectively with employees, brokers, and vendors. This role is central to maintaining compliance, supporting our team, and ensuring smooth operational flow.

Key Responsibilities Payroll & Accounting
  • Process biweekly payroll for physicians and clinical staff
  • Prepare and file all payroll tax returns
  • Manage Washington State B&O tax filing
  • Maintain and reconcile payroll liability accounts
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks in Quick Books Online (QBO), including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and audit trails
HR & Benefits Administration
  • Lead the annual open enrollment process
  • Serve as the primary liaison with HUB International (benefits broker) and Peak One (HSA and COBRA administration)
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Maintain employee personnel files and ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations
  • Assist employees with questions related to benefits, payroll, and HR policies
  • Support employee relations and HR policy implementation
Operational Support
  • Provide redundancy for office operations, including administrative support, vendor coordination, and general office workflow
  • Assist with special projects, process improvements, and cross‑functional initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • 12+ years of payroll or payroll accounting experience, ideally in healthcare or professional services
  • Expertise in payroll management and compliance with federal and state labor and tax regulations
  • Strong proficiency in Quick Books Online (QBO)
  • Experience in benefits administration and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Knowledge of HR policies, employee relations, and HR best practices
  • Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and proactive in identifying and solving problems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Washington State payroll and tax compliance
  • Familiarity with medical practice operations
  • Experience coordinating with benefits brokers and third‑party administrators
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Salary: $105,000 annually
  • Medical, Dental, Vision:
    Employee medical premiums 100% paid; spouse/partner/dependent premiums not covered
  • Retirement: 8% employer contribution into the employee’s 401(k)
  • Work Environment:
    Hybrid schedule with predictable Monday–Friday hours
  • PTO:
    • 3 weeks starting PTO. 1 additional week after 5 years of continuous employment
