Location: Spokane Valley

General Purpose

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the DSD/DON/Administrator in administering policies and implementing facility orientation.

Essential Duties
  • Supports organizational goals and values.
  • Receives and follows schedule/instructions from supervisor as outlined in established policies and procedures.
  • Upholds strict confidentiality, is team oriented and a results‑oriented self‑starter.
  • Assists in organizing the orientation of new employees, including philosophy and objectives of care, resident rights, safety, infection control and facility policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are compliant.
  • Assists with recruitment and onboarding of new employees, including candidate screening interviews and scheduling.
  • Assists in data entry of required information.
  • Gets information and prepares reports on various human resource topics as needed.
  • Prepares or updates employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting and terminating.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence and employee assistance.
  • Works with the Risk Manager as needed on complex HR/WC cases.
  • Ensures that in‑services are scheduled timely and posted in designated areas.
  • Maintains current records of orientation and in‑service attendance for each employee.
  • Assists in coordinating the safety program and scheduling pre‑employment and current employee health examinations and tests as directed.
  • Documents and/or coordinates all required Fire/Internal Disaster drills.
  • Communicates courteously, considerately and cooperatively with all facility personnel, residents and the public.
  • Promotes and maintains good public relations on behalf of the facility.
  • Advertises available positions for the facility as requested.
  • Provides information by answering questions and requests.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains regular attendance and dependability.
  • May assist with payroll duties.
  • Participates in facility surveys.
  • Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter‑department personnel and other departments within the facility.
  • Assists in recording all incidents/accidents and files them in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Agrees not to disclose resident's protected health information and promptly reports suspected or known violations to the Administrator.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor/DON/Administrator.
Payroll Responsibilities
  • Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Processes and monitors garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specifications.
  • Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles and department/division transfers.
  • Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability and nontaxable wages.
  • Processes manual checks.
  • Prepares and processes termination payroll checks within appropriate time frames.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer's social security, unemployment and worker's compensation payments.
  • Monitors sick and vacation accruals.
  • Processes and completes verification of employment.
  • Prepares payroll allocation reports for the finance team.
  • Reconciles payroll prior to transmission and validates reports.
  • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving discrepancies.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Partners with the assigned HRBP on complex HR cases, providing support and ensuring alignment with organizational policies and objectives.
